ReImagined Art by Richard Hart

I love classical art. I always have. Like many of my contemporaries, owning an original Gauguin, Monet, or Cezanne was just not an option I could afford. One of my closest friends is an admirer of the works of Cezanne. He had a vision where the art would be installed (in his formal living area), and all he could do was dream about owning it and living with it in his life. Although an admirer of my Abstract Art, he really wanted a Cezanne for his home. "Lac d' Annecy" was his choice, and it was my first attempt at "ReImagining" a creation of an existing piece of art. Cezanne's work is deep and shaded, and frankly complicated in it's shadow portrayal. Having said that, his work reminds me of someone peering into another's life. Fun stuff!

If you have a desire for a ReImagined piece of art, let me know. My ReImagined work is often vastly different from the original. I am learning with every piece I attempt. My artistic preference generally includes updated and more vibrant color than the original. But in all cases, I attempt to accomodate my commisioner's requests.

ReImagined Art from Monet / Gauguin / van Gogh

I think the Gauguin intrigue in Hawai'i was refueled by the popular television program "Magnum P.I." Thomas Magnum (Tom Selleck) kept swiping a Gauguin art piece from the main house, safeguarded by "Higgins" the irascible majordomo of the Robin Masters Estate. The actual art piece was a reproduction of two Gauguin paintings... but who knew? Gauguin Art "ownership" became synonymous with high brow Art ownership in Hawai'i. Regardless of the fact that most of the referred art was actually painted in Tahiti.

In any event, art buyers in Hawai'i seem to enjoy my Gauguin reimagined work, and it is quickly becoming a print favorite in a varity of shapes and sizes.
